Discipline even After School

Young children must be made to understand the importance of discipline in every way possible. Discipline is the cornerstone in the character-building process of any child. Hence, it is not necessary that children must be given lessons on discipline only in schools. Even after school programs must impart values like discipline with as much responsibility as the schools do. Though after school programs often provide extra-curricular activities for the children, even then they must include disciplinary values in such fun activities. In fact, this way the children would learn more about the value of discipline than by any other way.

After school games and other extra-curricular activities must have their own set of rules which the teachers must make compulsory for all the children. If a child misbehaves or does not follow the rules, he must be immediately told about the mistake he has made. Teachers must address the mistakes in such a way that the overall atmosphere is not disturbed. If the teachers do not punish misbehaving children then a large number of children would follow which would be a very difficult problem to tackle. Children themselves show a tendency to follow certain rules and regulations while playing or doing any other activities.

Children misbehave when they feel they are being neglected by their parents and teachers. If the teacher feels that the child is suffering from any problem and is hence misbehaving, then the problem must be addressed immediately. If children misbehave just for fun, then they must be punished. It is only at this age that children can be inculcated with a sense of discipline.

A firm discipline policy needs to be established and evryone - including parents and the children, what the policies and procedures are relating to discipline issues. If everyone knows what the procedures are for misbehaving then everyone is clear when punishment is dealt out.
