Book Review Essay

A book review essay provides description, criticism or even evaluation of the account of a book and not retelling it. It is more focused on its purpose, content and authority. Similar to the book report, a book review essay also provides a summary of the book content, and analysis of structure. However, the main object of the book review essay is to assess or gauge the value of a book and check whether it can be recommended or not to other readers. It is a reaction paper in which strengths and weaknesses of the material are analyzed by determining the objective of the author and evaluating if this objective has been met. Book reviews are personal and reflects the opinion of the reviewer.
Book review essay is mainly concerned with the book being presented while relying to some standard reference materials for relevant comments about the author and the book itself. A book review essay is different that of research papers because research paper is based on different sources to back up its topic and prove it validity. A book review essay consists in a thoughtful and thorough review in accordance with the guidelines whose main objective write critically reflecting the writers understanding and interpretation of the book read.
The most important element of a book review essay and all other types of reviews is that it is considered a commentary, not merely a summary. The reviewer can offer an agreement or disagreement and identify where you find the work exemplary or deficient in its knowledge, judgments, or organization. The viewer must also clearly state his views and opinions regarding the work in question by providing supporting statements and conclusions.
Book reviews are typically brief, though lengthier at times; they provide a concise summary of the content which includes the description and overall perspective, as well as critical assessment of the content.
Book review essay must have clearly identified the objectives and overall presentation being represented by the book and evaluate the author?s understanding of his objectives and determine the extent of his objective has been met. Give evaluations by summarizing the relevant parts which will prove your claims and clarify whether the book agrees with this matter. Last, readers can give constructive critical review in accordance to such guidelines.
Although there is no definitive method to writing a political essay, some critical thinking about the work at hand is necessary before a reviewer can actually start writing. Thus, writing a review is a two-step process: developing an argument about the work under consideration, and making that argument as you write an organized and well-supported draft.
Book review essay can be written by first giving the essential information about the book such as the author, title, book type subject matter and special features. Second, the reviewer can state the author?s purpose why the book was written. Third, reviewer must state the theme and thesis of the book and writer?s personal experience. Explain how the author supports the thesis and fifth, reviewer must evaluate the book for interest, accuracy, objectivity, significance and usefulness to the intended readers. Lastly, provide a brief summary, analysis and comment on the book?s content.
